Long time no write running anons. After some side ventures, the substack is back with a purpose. A purpose to make you, the anonymous alpha runner, a better runner, amongst other things. If that has not been clear from the start, let us know, so we can appropriately change our content or tone.
With that said, let us get to today’s article. Have you ever get bored mid run? Have you ever been intimidated by the distance of the run that you had lined up? Well guess what, so has every runner that has ever accomplished anything as small as conquering last week’s long run to winning olympic medals. Do not let it deter you, your mental muscles can be just as valuable as your physical muscles in the running world. Within the next 90 seconds, you will be better equipped to conquer that extra mile.
One mile at a time
No professional runner goes into a longer workout and says after a rep, “only 7 more left”. The attitude is always, “one more”. One more repetition, one more mile, one more big move in a race. Our brains can digest multiple smaller pieces easier than giant chunks. Just like your mother told you, little bites.
Wow the crowd
Scared that you will be tempted to stop on runs or quit when it gets tough? Easy fix, run where you know people will be or where you will be seen. It is much easier to quit when you are alone no one is watching; but will you stop when that neighbor is out in their yard, or that group of girls/guys your age at the park are looking at you?
What if?
What if that ex-boyfriend or girlfriend was watching? What if you had one more chance at that blown opportunity? What if you had one more season of the sport you played in high school or college? Let these what ifs motivate you not to waste the opportunity in front of you today.
Head in the clouds
Dream away. Dream about winning that race or championship. Dream about getting elected to that political officer. Dream about making that business deal (or growing your own business!). Dream about something that lets you get lost in the clouds.
Try these methods. If they work, don’t work, or you have any suggestions, let us know via comment or email. Big things to come from our substack and eventually, our business. Let’s get after it anons.
Looking forward to getting into a running routine. Can’t wait for more! Cheers
